Draw Your Sound Speech Challenge ~ Print & Go FREEBIE
This activity is a fun way to work on articulation while keeping your students’ hands busy! You can use it as a competition of just as a personal challenge with each student.
Competition: You can make this a timed completion if you choose.
- The students will start when you say “go” and try to think of and draw as many words as they can that contain their target sound. The student who has the most pictures with their sound wins. They can practice each word after they draw it or you can have a drilling session at the end (or both!). To get the most trials I suggest doing both!
- If students have a difficult time coming up with articulation words, you can provide them a list of words to choose from (make sure you provide over 10 choices).
Challenge:

I provided 4 templates to choose from. I use the 4-6 grids for younger students who need more space to draw. My older students like the 8-10 grid boards. Choose the board appropriate for your students.
Variation: You can also use this activity as a filler activity in between turns to keep students busy. For example, if you are teaching one student in the group, you could give this challenge to the other student(s) and ask them to draw until it is their turn.
