I LOVE incorporating art in speech therapy. I designed these directed drawings worksheets to work on defining and describing skills while learning to draw simple pictures. I use these with 1st-5th grade students depending on skill levels.

These pages can be used in speech therapy sessions, in the classroom, or sent as a homework activity. I have my students orally define/describe the picture and the write two describing words and a sentence. You could also have them write the definition on separate piece of paper.

I use them to target the following goals: following directions, defining, describing (naming attributes), attending to task, syntax/grammar, and articulation carry over.

Also comes with a BOOM Card version with their draw or ink feature (draw on the Boom card). Works great when using tablets or touch screens.

Included pages:
  • Spring (butterfly, bird, bee, birdhouse, flower, ladybug, eggs in a nest, tulip, and umbrella)
  • Summer (beachball, crab, fish, ice cream cone, palm tree, sailboat, sand castle, sand dollar, seashell, sunglasses)
  • Fall (acorn, apple, crow, leaf, jar of jam, mushroom, owl, pumpkin, scarecrow, and sunflower)
  • Winter (winter hat, mitten, mountains, penguin, pine tree, polar bear, shovel, snowman, and sweater)
  • Blank (draw your own)

Each page comes with a step by step drawing guide, a define/describe visuals board, a blank box to draw the picture, two boxes to write describing words, and a dotted line for a sentence.

The instructions on the page:
Instructions: Follow the steps above to draw the picture in the box (if you need more space use a blank piece of paper). When you are finished, describe or define the picture. Use the visuals below if needed. Write two descriptive words about your drawing in the boxes and your sentence on the dotted line. Color your drawing if you have time.
