Your students will love this no prep craft story companion craft.
This activity was designed to be a simple, no-prep activity to use as a story retell activity. This was made to use as a companion while reading the “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a …….” series (books required, not included with this download). It is also a GREAT way to encourage home story retell because when completing crafts it creates the “look what I made” mentality which increases the likelihood that the student will show their caregiver and review. A quick caregiver note is included on the bottom of the Old Lady head. These can also be used as puppets to retell the story with.
There are pages included for the following Old Lady Book series: Please note these are the books by Lucille Colandro, images may vary if you use other versions of the Old Lady books.

How to use: Color the Old Lady and pictures. Fold the old lady into a mouth puppet. As you read the story, glue the item in the Old Lady’s mouth to gobble them up like she does in the book! Use your Old Lady as a puppet when you are done to retell the story. Glue the two pictures at the bottom on the back of the Old Lady’s head to finish the story (the last two pictures are when she sneezes, coughs, hiccups, burps, yells, etc… and the ending image of the story).

My hope is that this will encourage the students to show their parents and retell the story and spark an interest in reading!
I also have a similar activity for speech and language target that can be used to address specific speech therapy goals (articulation and language).
