Amanda Schaumburg is a children’s book author, educational resource creator, and pediatric speech language pathologist. She has a passion for writing children’s books that spark imagination and promote literacy and communication. Find more of her creations at www.shoppandaspeech.com

A note from the Author: My children's books are for any young learner (they are not just for speech therapy). Many speech therapists and teachers use my books in their lessons but families can also enjoy the books at home. My board books are perfect for 3-6 year olds and my other books are beneficial for toddlers to elementary aged students (depending on the book!). Most of my books come with coloring pages and downloadable extras that I encourage families to print out and use them at home too (see the back page or back cover of the book to find the links).

For my educational materials and books: My hope is that my original materials will help busy SLPs and educators build a library of effective materials!

I am a speech language pathologist working in Texas. I have experience in the school systems, ECI programs (early intervention birth-3yrs), and outpatient clinics. I have also worked PRN in nursing homes to keep up my medical skills! I primarily work in schools (pre-k through 12th grade). I absolutely love my job and feel so lucky to have the opportunity to work with families to help their child communicate. I currently run a private practice where I provide contract services to schools, public speaking engagements, tele-therapy services, and professional consultation services.

She provides trainings/topics in the area of IEP Documentation/Case management best practices for SLPs; IEP goals & Reliable data collection; SLP Entrepreneurship; and Setting Boundaries in the workplace. My other passion is my family. I am married to a wonderful man and have one son and two step sons! I am also a Boston Terrier enthusiast and my dog is my best bud! :)

I have a LOVE for community involvement! I am a Special Olympics coach in my area (track and swimming) and serve on the Board for Smiles for Speech. Smiles for Speech is a 501c Non-Profit that provides therapy services and materials to children in underserved areas all over the world. In the past I have coached little league teams (soccer and t-ball), was a Cubmaster for Cubscouts, Fundraiser chair for Boy Scouts, served on the Special Olympics Area Team Advisory Board, and served as the Communications Chair for the Panhandle Regional Speech & Hearing Association.
